Women's Soccer Predicted to Win MEC North Division for Third Consecutive Year

The Frostburg State Women's Soccer team was selected to finish first in the North Division for the third consecutive year, as shown in the MEC Preseason Poll announced on Wednesday afternoon by the league office.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Soccer team was selected to finish first in the North Division for the third consecutive year, as shown in the MEC Preseason Poll announced on Wednesday afternoon by the league office.
 
FSU showed a 17-3-2 record last season, along with an 11-1-2 mark in conference play, capturing their fourth straight division title in 2023, and making it to their third consecutive MEC Championship Game, where they came up just short to Charleston (WV) in a 2-1 final.  The Bobcats also went on to their second straight appearance in the Division II NCAA Tournament, playing West Chester in the first round of regional play as the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Region.

 Frostburg earned 50 points in the poll with 10 first place votes, leading Fairmont State who sits second in the North with 37 points and one first place vote.  The Golden Eagles were chosen to win the South Division, with 57 points and eight first place votes, as West Virginia State stands behind them in second with 49 points and one first place vote.  Concord slid into the third spot in the South, receiving 45 points and two first place votes.
 
The Bobcats open their 2024 season on the road against Shippensburg for a 7 PM game on Thursday, September 5.  FSU hosts Point Park on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30 PM for their first home and conference game of the year.
