Six Top-Three Finishes Pace Men's Track & Field Across Raleigh, WLU Meets
WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team took part in a pair of meets during the week, with a few athletes heading south to the Raleigh Relays and the rest of the team taking part in the Tim Weaver Invite.
Senior Marquise Burks was one to feature in Raleigh, as he set a new season-best time in the 110m hurdles at 15.71. Joining him in hurdles success were freshmen Mason Worley and Matteo Mosby, who both qualified for the finals in West Liberty, with the former coming fifth overall at 15.90 and the latter setting a new PR in seventh at 16.97. Both also featured in the 400m hurdles, placing third (58.12) and sixth (59.96), respectively.
Sophomore Jack Hynes had the top overall finish for FSU on the day, earning runner-up in the 800m at 1:57.76. The Bobcats also racked up four more podium finishes, with junior Justin Dowell impressing in the 400m with a personal best of 50.08, where freshman Morgon Corwine (53.06) also PR'd. Dowell also set a PR in the 200m at 23.37. All three would feature in Frostburg's runner-up 4x400m relay team, along with sophomore Jaxon Jones for a time of 3:28.33. Junior Scott Haste led the throws with third overall in the javelin (45.55m), the same placement as freshman Blake Stevens in the triple jump (13.62m).
Jones also led the distance events with a personal best 4:09.18 to land fourth in the 1,500m, where sophomore Isayah Stewart also ran a career-high 4:19.35. During the 3k steeplechase, junior Brandon Stein set a PR of 10:42.27, while junior Ryan Schlauch did the same in the pole vault at 3.80m, equaling Corwine in a tie for sixth place.
Frostburg next will travel to Grantham, Pa. to take part in the Messiah Multis and Invite from Thursday, April 10 until Saturday, April 12. Information and updates will be posted to frostbugsports.com.
