BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Frostburg State Baseball senior Patrick Bauer was named MEC Pitcher of the Week, while sophomore Jackson Schalick was named Co-Player of the Week, both announced by the league office and presented by The Health Plan on Monday.

Bauer threw his first complete game of the season to finish off Frostburg's home opening weekend with a 7-1 win over West Virginia State in game two of their doubleheader on Sunday.  Bauer threw all seven innings giving up just two hits, one run, and zero walks, while seeing a season-high 11 strikeouts for his fourth win of the year.  Bauer didn't give up a hit until the fifth inning, facing the minimum in all four innings prior and the two after.

Schalick had a successful week on the offensive side of the ball, starting with a 2-for-5 go-around in FSU's midweek non-conference game with Millersville, collecting a run and an RBI.  To help show a 3-1 record during the Bobcats' home opening weekend, Schalick showed a 4-for-4 performance at the plate in game two of their doubleheader on Saturday with Charleston.  He was credited with a two-run triple to clear the bases and give FSU back the lead in the fifth inning, finishing with a total of three runs and three RBI in the team's 7-3 and 11-8 sweep of the Golden Eagles.  On Sunday against WVSU, Schalick went a total of 2-for-3 in Frostburg's split with the Yellow Jackets, drawing four walks, while earning three RBI and scoring two runs across the two games.
