Mary Washington Hands Women's Swimming First Loss of the Season

he Frostburg State Women's Swim team lost 163-99 against Division III powerhouse Mary Washington at home on Saturday.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swim team lost 163-99 against Division III powerhouse Mary Washington at home on Saturday.
 
After each of the first three events were won by UMW, sophomore Jayme Meadows got the Bobcats on the board with a victory in the 100-meter backstroke at 1:10.19. Freshman Madison Hooper then went on to eke out a win by .01 seconds in the 50 free at 28.40 before taking a 10-second victory in the 200 breast with a personal best 2:44.06.
 
In the 400 IM, freshman Genevieve Rippeon won with a 5:16.88, while also finishing runner-up in the 800 free at 9:35.76. FSU ended the day on a high note, winning the 400 free relay with the team of Hooper, Meadows, Rippeon, and senior Amaya Burke turning in a 1:52.21.
 
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 5-1 on the year, while Mary Washington improves to 4-0. The Bobcats are back in the pool on Friday, November 22 as they head to Lancaster, Pa. for the Franklin and Marshall Invite that will last until Sunday, November 24.
