Eagles Win Final Race to Secure Last-Second Meet Win Over Men's Swimming

The Frostburg State Men's Swim team lost a narrow 132-130 decision to Mary Washington at home on Saturday.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swim team lost a narrow 132-130 decision to Mary Washington at home on Saturday.
 
FSU began the meet with some early momentum, as the team of graduate PJ Emrich, junior Josh Horner, and sophomores Dylan King and Abe Bias won the 400-meter medley relay in 4:07.03. The Bobcats then rolled into the top three spots in the 800 free, with senior Nate Canapp (8:58.37) taking first, followed by sophomore Jack Bond (9:28.20) and junior Alex Whittton (9:50.11).
 
Canapp went on to win the 400 free (4:19.66) and came runner-up in the 400 IM (4:51.36), while Bias took first in the 200 free (2:01.66) and second in the 100 free (53.93). Freshman Bradin Norris also had an impressive showing, as he earned a pair of victories in the 200 fly (2:13.90) and the 200 back (2:17.43).
 
The meet would end up coming down to the 200 free relay, where the Eagles pulled out a victory by .12 seconds to secure the two-point win. The team of Bias, senior Jaden Tipton, junior Andrew Wetherhold, and sophomore Tory Reynolds finished with a time of 1:39.01, as UMW put up a 1:38.89.
 
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 4-2 on the year, while Mary Washington improves to 2-2. The Bobcats are back in the pool on Friday, November 22 as they head to Lancaster, Pa. for the Franklin and Marshall Invite that will last until Sunday, November 24.
