Senior Recital: Evie Shanholtz, Viola

    FSU Student Evie Shanholtz Will Perform Senior Viola Recital

    Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will present student Evie Shanholtz in her senior viola recital, “¡VOILÀ!” on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Yungen and guest artist Peter Lewis on bass, as well as Chassady Redhead and Leah Boggs on violin. The concert is free and open to the public. This event will also be livestreamed; click the “Join Stream” button on this page a few minutes before the recital is scheduled to begin, or any time during the recital, to view the live performance.

    The program will include “Passacaglia for String Trio in D Major” by Dr. Scott Rieker; “Arioso” by Johann Sebastian Bach; “Humoresque” by Antonín Dvořák; “O Salutaris Hostia” by Edward Elgar, arranged by Shanholtz; the four movements, “Largo,” “Allegro,” “Andante” and “Presto,” of “Viola Concerto in G Major” by Georg Philipp Telemann; and the third movement, “Rondo, Allegro,” of “Piano Quartet in G Minor, K. 478” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

    At FSU, Shanholtz studies under Dr. Talya Schenk. She anticipates graduating in May 2024 with a bachelor’s in music education. Shanholtz is a member of Delta Zeta, the National Association for Music Education and the Fraternity and Sorority Life Council. She has been on the Dean’s List and is the recipient of an FSU Honors Scholarship. She has also been a choral assistant. Shanholtz plans to teach music in a secondary school and eventually become an administrator. She attended South Hagerstown High School.
