The Department of Student Engagement invites you to join us for a showing of Hamilton at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh. We will arrive a few hours before showtime so students will be able to explore Pittsburgh! “Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theater — a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.”

State Senator Mike Mckay (who represents Allegheny, Garrett, and parts of Washington County) and State Senator MaryBeth Carozza (who represents Worchester, Somerset, and parts of Wicomico County) will be speaking to our campus and local community on September 23rd at 4 pm in the ARMAH. The senators will be on campus to talk about sexual violence on college campuses and how students can get involved in battling this issue. Senators will also talk about the importance of civic engagement in young adult lives and how they can make a difference in their local communities.This event will be hosted by Daileah Ramirez and her staff sponsor Daniel Moorehead as part of her Langenberg Speaking Series. This event aims to inspire college-aged students to get involved in the legislative process to help reduce sexual violence in Maryland.
